Most roofers do not have a Google Ads problem. They have a phone problem: the ad gets a click, the page is slow, nobody answers, and the money is gone. I am Bharat Rajput, a freelance Google Ads and PPC specialist with 6+ years of experience in SEO and Google Ads and 20+ Google Ads accounts, mostly for local service businesses that depend on enquiries. I work remotely from Bhopal, India. This page explains how I would plan Google Ads for a roofing business, what I check first and how we would work together.
Guide

What a good roofing campaign looks like

A roofing campaign is built around the moment someone needs help. Roofing has two very different customers: the person with a leak today and the homeowner planning a replacement. Weather can switch demand on in a day, especially after a storm. I split the account by service and by urgency, so each type of search has its own keywords, ads and landing page, and negative keywords are added from the start to cut DIY searches, job seekers and work you do not want.
How the work runs

Searches I would plan for

Urgent searches

These are people who need help today, such as “roof leak repair”, “storm damage roof” or “emergency tarp”. They are ready to call, so the ad should show your phone number, service area and hours, and the landing page should put the call button at the top.

Planned work

These are searches such as “roof replacement quote”, “new roof cost” or “roof inspection”. People compare more, so the ad and page need proof: licence details, years in business, real photos and real reviews, and a simple way to ask for a quote.
How the work runs

Setup that protects your budget

Call tracking you can trust

Google Ads Help explains that call reporting gives your ad a Google forwarding number, so you can see details such as call duration and start time. Before spending serious money I set up call and form tracking, so we count real enquiries, not only clicks.

Ad schedules that match your phone

Google Ads Help says an ad schedule can show your ads only on certain days and hours, with up to 6 schedules per day for each campaign. If nobody can answer at 2am, there is usually no reason to pay for 2am clicks, unless you run an emergency line.

Locations by drive time

I target by city, ZIP or postal code area, or radius, and check the location report to see which areas bring calls and which only bring clicks. Weak areas are cut and strong areas get more budget.
Guide

Storms, insurance claims and trust

After a storm, many contractors advertise at once, and homeowners are cautious. The Colorado Division of Insurance, for example, gives homeowners advice on choosing a reputable contractor after hail. For you that means local proof matters: licence, insurance, real photos and honest wording about what is covered. I would prepare a storm plan in advance, with budget, ad text and a landing page ready to go.
Guide

Licences, insurance and trust

Roofing rules differ by place. In the Texas and Colorado examples on my city pages, regulators and insurers publish guidance for homeowners, so check your own rules and show your licence and insurance details on the page. I only use claims you can prove: your licence, your years in business, your service area and real reviews.

Guide

Costs without invented numbers

I will not publish a cost per click for roofers. It depends on the service, the area and the season, and a number I cannot source would only mislead you. Google Keyword Planner gives estimated ranges for your exact keywords, and I combine them with the first weeks of your account data to set a starting budget. Your ad spend goes straight to Google from your own account, and my management fee is agreed in writing before work starts.

Working with me

I work remotely from India, so we use WhatsApp and email and agree on update times that suit your day. The account stays in your name and you can see every dollar spent. I also have city pages for businesses in places like Denver and Houston, and my SEO page explains how organic search can work alongside paid ads over time. I have also written a guide on negative keywords for roofing campaigns.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

They work differently, and Local Services Ads are only available in some places and categories, so check Google’s eligibility page for your area. I can explain the difference for your situation and set up search ads where they make sense.
