Many small businesses in Bhopal look for digital marketing services but are not sure what that means in practice, where to start, or whether to hire an agency or a freelancer. I am Bharat Rajput, a freelance digital marketing specialist in Bhopal with 6+ years of experience in SEO and Google Ads. I have worked on 10+ websites and 20+ Google Ads accounts. Working with a freelancer means you talk to the person who does the work. This page explains the services I offer, how I decide what a business needs first, and how to judge any digital marketing freelancer.
Checklist
What digital marketing includes
Digital marketing is every way a business reaches customers online. For most local businesses in Bhopal, five parts matter:
- **Website:** the place where customers decide whether to call you.
- **SEO:** getting found on Google without paying for every click.
- **Google Ads:** paid search ads that bring enquiries faster.
- **Google Business Profile and local presence:** how you appear on Google Maps and local searches.
- **Social media and content:** staying visible, showing proof of your work and answering customer questions.
You do not need all five on day one. The right order depends on your business, budget and how customers find services like yours.
Guide
How I decide where to start
I begin with three questions. How do customers find businesses like yours today? What is one new customer worth to you? What is already working or broken in your current online presence?
If your website is slow or confusing, fixing it comes before spending on traffic. If you need enquiries quickly and your website is decent, Google Ads usually comes first. If you have time and want steady growth, SEO and local presence come first. Most of the time it is a mix, and I will explain the reason for each step.
Checklist
Mistakes small businesses make with digital marketing
- Starting with social media posts while the website still loads slowly or has no clear phone number.
- Running ads without tracking calls, then not knowing what worked.
- Paying for many services at once with no plan for which one should bring results first.
- Having a different business name, address or phone number on each platform.
- Letting an outside vendor register the domain, ad account or Google profile in the vendor's own name.
- Judging marketing by likes and views instead of enquiries and customers.
Checklist
A simple website checklist before you spend on marketing
- The page loads quickly on a mobile network.
- Your main service and your city appear in the first screen of text.
- A phone number or WhatsApp button is easy to tap.
- Each major service has its own page.
- There is no leftover dummy text from a theme.
- The site has an SSL certificate, and a sitemap submitted in Google Search Console.
If any of these are missing, I fix them first. They make every other marketing activity work better.
How the work runs
Services I offer
Website design and WordPress development
I build and fix WordPress websites that load fast on mobile, are easy for you to edit, and are set up properly for search from the start. If you already have a website, I check whether it can be improved instead of rebuilt.
Search engine optimization
Audit, keyword research, on-page SEO, content, Google Search Console setup and regular reporting. See the details on my SEO expert in Bhopal page.
Google Ads management
Search campaign setup, keyword and negative keyword management, call tracking and weekly optimisation. Details are on my Google Ads expert in Bhopal page.
Local SEO and Google Business Profile
Setting up and cleaning your Google Business Profile, matching your business details across the web and helping you ask real customers for reviews.
Social media support
Profile setup, posting plans and creative direction for businesses that want to stay active on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. I treat social media as support for the main plan, not a replacement for search.
Checklist
Which channel first: SEO, Google Ads or social media?
Each channel does a different job, so the order matters.
- **Google Ads:** best when people already search for your service and you want enquiries soon. It stops when the budget stops.
- **SEO and Google Business Profile:** best for steady, lower-cost enquiries over time. It takes longer to build.
- **Social media:** best for staying visible to people who already know you, sharing work and building trust. It rarely brings immediate calls for local services.
- **Website:** every channel sends people to your website, so a slow or confusing site wastes the other spend.
For most local businesses I start with the website basics and your Google Business Profile, then add Google Ads or SEO depending on how soon you need enquiries.
Guide
How digital marketing cost works
Digital marketing fees depend on which services you need, how competitive your market is, how much content or design work is involved and how much support you want each month. Ad spend paid to Google or Meta is separate from the fee for managing it. I agree the scope and fee in writing before starting, and I do not quote a price before understanding the business.
Checklist
Why work with a freelancer instead of an agency
- **Direct contact:** you speak to the person doing the work, not an account manager.
- **Flexible scope:** you can start with one service and add more when it makes sense.
- **Plain reporting:** you get a clear update on what was done and what changed.
- **You keep control:** your website, ad account, Google Business Profile and Search Console stay in your ownership.
The trade-off is capacity. One person cannot run a very large, many-channel campaign for a big brand. I am best suited to small and mid-sized businesses that want focused work.
Guide
How a typical engagement works
1. Call or message: you tell me about your business and what you want more of.
2. Quick review: I look at your website, search results and competition.
3. Plan: I suggest what to do first and why, with the work split into clear steps.
4. Work and updates: I do the work and share what changed on a regular schedule.
5. Review and adjust: we look at what the data shows and decide the next step.
Checklist
Questions to ask any digital marketing freelancer
- What will you do in the first 30 days, specifically?
- Who will own the website, ad account and Google profiles? You should.
- How will you measure results: calls, forms, or something else?
- Do you promise rankings or a fixed number of leads? Be careful if so.
- Can I see work you have done or speak to a client?
