Toronto time is behind India, depending on daylight saving
In Toronto, a furnace that stops in January or a basement that floods in a spring thaw is not something people put off. They search, compare a couple of businesses and call. If you run a heating, plumbing, electrical or other home service business in Toronto or the wider area, Google Ads can place you in front of them when they search. The account needs to reflect how the Toronto market works, though: sharp seasonal swings, licensing rules in Ontario and customers who check whether you are legitimate before booking. I am Bharat Rajput, a freelance Google Ads and PPC specialist with 6+ years of experience in SEO and Google Ads and 20+ Google Ads accounts, mostly for local service businesses that rely on calls. I work remotely from Bhopal, India. Here is how I would plan Google Ads for a Toronto business and what we would agree before spending a dollar.
Guide
Why seasons matter more in Toronto
Toronto winters are cold. A weather data page based on 1991 to 2020 normals lists an average January daily high of -0.3 °C and a daily low of -6.7 °C. Cold like that shapes the search calendar for home services. Heating repairs, furnace replacement and frozen pipe problems are more likely to be searched in winter, while air conditioning, outdoor work and renovation enquiries usually move to warmer months. I would check this pattern against your own jobs and Google’s search data before building a budget, because every business has its own busy periods.
A campaign that spends the same amount every month ignores that rhythm. I plan budgets and ad groups by season, so your money follows demand instead of being spread evenly.
Guide
Licences and trust in Ontario
Customers in Ontario look for proof that a trade is properly licensed, and some rules are strict. Under Ontario Regulation 570/05, nobody may operate an electrical contracting business without an electrical contractor licence, and the Electrical Safety Authority explains that the ECRA/ESA licence is needed to file a notification of work and to bid on electrical work. If you are an electrical contractor, your licence number and the fact that you are licensed are strong trust points for ads and landing pages. I would show only what you can prove: your licence, years in business, real reviews and the areas you cover. Phrases like “best in Toronto” are hard to support, so I avoid them.
Checklist
Toronto businesses I can help
- Furnace, boiler and air conditioning services
- Plumbers, drain and waterproofing services
- Licensed electricians and electrical contractors
- Roofers, eavestroughs and exterior repair
- Snow removal, landscaping and property care
- Cleaners, movers, pest control and handyman services
If your trade is not listed, tell me what you sell and how a typical customer finds you. I will say plainly if another channel should come before Google Ads.
How the work runs
How I would build your Toronto campaign
Choose where you work
Toronto is large, and the Greater Toronto Area stretches well beyond the city. I would decide with you which neighbourhoods and nearby cities you can serve properly, and target those. Google Ads allows you to target areas or a radius, and the advanced settings decide whether you reach people physically in an area or also people showing interest in it. I would check the location report each week and cut areas that bring poor calls.
Build ad groups by urgency and season
A no-heat call in January is urgent. A request for a new furnace quote is a planned purchase. I keep these apart, with different ads and landing pages, and add negative keywords so you do not pay for DIY searches, jobs you do not offer or job seekers.
Control the hours
You can schedule when ads appear, so they follow the hours you can answer. During peak winter or a storm, you may want ads running late. In slow periods, you may want a tighter schedule. I would set this with you and adjust it from real call data.
Track calls and forms
I set up conversion tracking before serious spending: calls from ads, calls from your site and form submissions. We then judge the account by enquiries, and by booked work when you share that data with me.
Guide
Costs and currency
Your ad spend is paid directly to Google from your own account, in Canadian dollars if that is how the account is set up. I am not publishing a Toronto cost per click, because it varies by service, season and competition, and I would not want to quote a number I cannot source. Google Keyword Planner gives estimates for your specific keywords, and I combine that with your first weeks of results to propose a starting budget. My management fee is agreed in writing before we start.
Guide
The page behind the ad
If your page is slow, hides the phone number or does not mention the service the person searched for, an ad click turns into wasted money. For Toronto services I check mobile speed, a visible call button, a clear service list, your licence details and your service areas. If the website needs work first, I will tell you before scaling spend. You can see how organic search works alongside it on my SEO page.
Guide
Working with me from India
Toronto is roughly 9.5 to 10.5 hours behind India depending on daylight saving. In practice, I can review your account during my evening, which is your morning, and have an update ready as your day begins. You keep ownership of the account and can see all spending. I am not based in Toronto, and I want that to be clear before we start. We agree on a reporting schedule, and I am reachable on WhatsApp and by email. If you also serve other Canadian cities, see Ottawa and Vancouver, and Google Ads for HVAC companies for heating and cooling companies.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Yes. The platform is online, and what matters is how the account is planned, tracked and reviewed. We agree on update times that fit your day.
It depends on the service, season and job value. I would use Keyword Planner estimates and your first weeks of data to decide a starting budget, then adjust.
That depends on your trade. For electrical contracting, the ECRA/ESA licence is required to operate. Showing a licence you hold builds trust, but I would only include details you can prove.
Yes. I can audit it, show what is wasting spend and fix structure, keywords, locations and tracking, or suggest a restart if it is too tangled.
No. Nobody can guarantee leads or a top position. I can show what I will set up, track and report.
